Bechard Competing With Basketball Ontario
Dover Centre’s Burke Bechard is competing in her first tune up tournament as a member of Team Ontario’s Under 14 girls basketball team, in preparation for the National Championships later this summer.
Bechard and her Team Ontario teammates traveled to Quebec this past weekend as a part of the Basketball Quebec Summer Festival, their first of two summer tournaments. Their other tournament prior to the National Championships is the Nike 14U National Championships in Washington D.C. from July 25-28.
Bechard is a member of the Chatham-Kent Wildcats basketball program and is competing for the first time with Team Ontario. She recently graduated from Tecumseh Public School this June.
She joins fellow Chatham baller Bridget Carleton as members of Team Ontario. Carleton, who plays for the St. Clair JUEL team, and is a former Chatham-Kent Wildcats athlete, will represent Ontario’s Under 17 team. Carleton is also a member of Canada’s National Team at the Cadette level.
Carleton and her Under 17 squad will play August 11-17 at the Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, Quebec.
