Enviro Clean Cougar of the Week: Alex Formosa
Alex Formosa has been selected as the winners of the Chatham-Kent Cougars Player of the Week, sponsored by EnviroClean Car & Dog Wash, for the week ending July 7.
Formosa, a John McGregor Secondary School student, was a defensive standout with the Junior Varsity Chatham-Kent Cougars, leading his team to a 31-6 win over the Sarnia Sturgeon last week.
Formosa lead the Cougars in defensive scoring for the third week this season, collecting 7 solo tackles, 3 assists, 2 sacks, and a batted ball.
“Alex Formosa was the Jr. MVP at McGregor this season and if his play continues will be the Cougar JV Defensive MVP,” stated Chatham-Kent Cougars president Selwyn Jordan about Formosa. “Alex plays extremely well close to the line of scrimmage, and is able to read and anticipate opponents offensive plays quickly.”
“Alex Formosa led our team in defensive scoring for this week. This is the third game out of the five we played that he has led our defence in scoring. Overall the whole defence played great,” added Junior Varsity coach Mike Newman.
Formosa is also a vital part of the Cougars organization volunteering with the younger players at camps and clinics.
The Junior Varsity Cougars and Alex Formosa will take on the Niagara Storm on the road July 14.
