Blenheim’s Kyle Hope will have an opportunity to show off his skills at the NHL level, after he was invited to attend the Vancouver Canucks development prospects camp this week. Hope was not selected in the NHL draft, but will attend the camp as an undrafted free agent.

This is Hope’s second NHL camp, as he was a free agent invite last summer to the New York Rangers prospects camp only days before the start of the NHL lockout.

Hope, who has one year of eligibility left in the Ontario Hockey League, scored 27 points, including 14 goals, in 62 games last season while playing for the Owen Sound Attack. Hope, a physical presence on the ice, also had 109 penalty minutes with Owen Sound.

Hope is not the only local product who will be at the Vancouver Canucks training camp as Rodney’s Bo Horvat was the Canucks’ first round selection, 9th overall in this years draft.
