Lakers Looking To Rebound After Difficult Season
After missing the 8th and final playoff spot last season by one point on the heels of a late season collapse, the Wallaceburg Lakers have been working hard this off season to build a better hockey team for the 2013-2014 season.
“Last season is history now,” stated Wallaceburg General Manager Jim McCrea, about his team’s disappointing year. “This season we will do our best to improve our record. Our staff have been scouting since January for the upcoming season. The new staff are a group of qualified people with great goals. I think they will produce a great product on the ice and a great place for our players,” continued McCrea.
The new coaching staff, which will be guided by new head coach Kris Jacobs will have the bulk of their veteran players eligible to return.
“There are some veteran guys coming back and they will be the leaders,” says McCrea.
Jacobs is in his first full season as Wallaceburg’s Head Coach, replacing Paul Grealis, who stepped down as the team’s head coach last season, before being fired as the organizations general manager.
Wallaceburg finished with an 11-27-0-2 record last season, but will be looking to build on their performance, beginning this month with their prospects camp. The Lakers will be holding their mini-camp Saturday July 27th, starting at 12pm at Thames Campus in Chatham. The cost of the camp is $60 and all returning and prospective players are welcome.
