Minto Cup Within Sight For Wallaceburg Duo
Six Nations used a pair of weekend wins to eliminate the Peterborough Lakers, who featured fellow Wallaceburg Lacrosse product Zach Herreweyers, and advance to the Ontario final against the Whitby Warriors.
After sweeping the Kitchener-Waterloo Braves in their opening round series, Six Nations defeated Peterborough in 5 games, including 13-8 and 9-6 wins over the weekend.
In Saturday’s win, Jordan Durston, who was the Ontario West Junior B Offensive MVP this season with the Wallaceburg Red Devils before joining the Arrows full time, opened the scoring 3:58 into the first period. Durston would also score the opening goal of the third period for Six Nations. Herreweyers, who plays NCAA lacrosse for Loyola University, had two assists in the loss for Peterborough.
In Sunday’s deciding victory, Durston had one assist, while Herreweyers had a goal and an assist. Joel Shepley, who captained the Wallaceburg Red Devuls and was the Ontario West Junior B defensive MVP this season, is continuing to play a depth defensive role for Six Nations.
