Blenheim’s Breanne Nicholas and her Team Canada U20 Rugby teammates captured the U20 Nations Cup title Sunday, defeating the USA in the championship game.

Canada swept the tournament, including Sunday’s 27-3 win over the United States.

“It’s a pretty important day in women’s rugby in Canada,” head coach Sandro Fiorino said in a Rugby Canada news release. “These girls worked pretty hard and proved their point to the rest of the three teams here and the rest of the world. It’s pretty impressive of what we have in our country right now.”

Canada won each game in the tournament, including wins against the USA, South Africa, and host England.

Nicholas scored a try for Canada in a 43-15 win over England in the round robin.

Nicholas is a member of the Kent Havoc rugby club, and is a three time Kent high school champion as a member of the Blenheim Bobcats.
