After months of rumours regarding the relocation of the Erie Otters to Chatham-Kent, or Hamilton, Ontario, it appears the OHL franchise may be staying put, as management has opened a dialogue to extend the team’s arena lease in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Managing Partner and General Manager Sherry Bassin told news sources this week, that his group had started negotiations on multi-year lease extensions for the team.

Bassin stated the team’s talent has improved, and believes the team will be competitive, and can be successful in Erie.

Thamesville’s Dane Fox plays for the Erie Otters, and scored nearly a point per game for the franchise last year. His younger brother, Trent Fox, was a 5th round draft pick of the Erie Otters in this year’s Ontario Hockey League Priority Draft.

Bassin however, is continuing to speak to prospective buyers for the team.
