Gracie Barra Chatham competed at the TXC New Generation on June 29th in Highland, Michigan.

Nick Whittal won the 170 lbs interim title against Michigan fighter Ace Sears improving his record to 3-0. Ace came out hard, but Whittal neutralized and achieved a tight Muay Thai clinch landing a clean knee to the head, causing a knockout in the 1st round.

Rob Alderton made his debut against Dominique Carter. The fight went all 3 rounds back and forth finishing with a close decision loss.

Craig Arnel (2-1) fought for the 145 lbs title against Patrick Northern (9-1). Craig went out hard controlling the fight then got caught in a rear naked choke in a scramble in the first round, losing the bout.

Josh “The Ripper” Rich was also at the event to pass down the 135 lbs TXC Championship belt to the next up and comer as Josh’s next fight will be Pro and is scheduled for sometime in October 2013.

Gracie Barra Chatham kids competition team also had a successful weekend competing at the 3rd Annual Jean Jacques Machado Competition in Windsor on June 30th. Destanee Armstrong won Silver Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Chase Mason won double Bronze BJJ and Submission Grappling, Mytch Barnes won Bronze BJJ, Jordan Armstrong won double Silver BJJ and Submission Grappling, Conner Garton won Bronze BJJ, Kayne Abrams won double Silver BJJ and Submission Grappling all in there respective age, weight and experience levels.
