Carleton Wins Gold With Ontario
Carleton had 5-points and 7 rebounds for Team Ontario’s U17 team in the gold medal game victory over British Columbia, 61-41. Ontario went a perfect 5-0 in the tournament.
“The girls came ready to play week and for the gold medal game in particular,” said U17 head coach Jodi Gram in a Basketball Ontario news release. “They committed their summer to improving individually and collectively and fought hard for the right to wear the Canada Summer Games gold. We are extremely proud of each of them and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them on and off the court.”
“These young ladies and their coaches embraced the spirit of the Canada Summer Games and showed a passion to succeed and did so very impressively,” said Ontario Basketball president Ken Urbach in the release.
Carleton, who is entering grade 11 at John McGregor Secondary School, played club basketball this summer for the St. Clair JUEL team, and captained Team Canada to a silver medal at the FIBA America’s earlier this summer in Mexico.
Chatham’s Burke Bechard played for the U14 Team Ontario squad.
