Fantuz Returns In Ticats Win
Chatham’s Andy Fantuz returned to the Hamilton Tiger Cats lineup Friday after missing five weeks due to a torn hamstring. Fantuz’s Ticats defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in his return, 37-18.
Although Fantuz returned to a less than prominent role, catching 4 passes for 29-yards in the win, his return is significant for the Hamilton Tiger Cats who have struggled this season. After battling injuries last season, Fantuz told Ticats.ca in a recent news release, that he was frustrated with the injury after coming into the season after a strong offseason, and an excellent opening week performance.
“You can’t rush a torn hamstring, especially as a receiver you have to be able to run,” Fantuz said on Ticats.ca. “I couldn’t run, so I couldn’t play, so it wasn’t even really a decision. It was frustrating, I mean you come in and work so hard all off-season and start feeling back to form, finally healthy, explosive and confident and all that, and something like [the hamstring injury] happens.”
In two games this season, Fantuz has 184 yards and 1 touchdown.
Hamilton will again play the Winnipeg Blue Bombers next Saturday, August 24.
