Maroons and Blades Rekindle Relationship
After years of serving as the Chatham Maroons Junior C affiliate, the Blenheim Blades are back as the Maroons top feeder team.
Under former head coach and general manager Bill Bowler, the Maroons briefly switched affiliate teams to the Wheatley Sharks, but with new management in place, the Maroons will again be working with the Great Lakes Junior C League’s Blenheim Blades.
The relationship is long standing, as the Maroons and Blades were affiliated from 2003-2009, and in 2011-2012.
New Maroons assistant coach Wayne Cowell, was the general manager of the Blenheim Blades last season, when the Blenheim Blades finished 5th overall in the Great Lakes Junior C regular season standings.
Blenheim was eliminated in the opening round of the playoffs in a six game series with the Dresden Kings. The Chatham Maroons made it to the GOJHL Western Conference final after finishing first in the regular season, but fell to the London Nationals.
