Pataki Scores First OUA Touchdown
It didn’t take long for Wallaceburg’s Jonah Pataki to make a statement at the OUA level after the Wallaceburg District Secondary School, and Chatham-Kent Cougars alumni scored his first OUA touchdown with the Queens Gaels.
Pataki, who was used to scored three or more touchdowns per game with Wallaceburg, immediately found himself in the lineup with the Queens University Gaels as they cruised to an easy opening week win over the York Lions 52-1.
With the game in hand, Pataki ran in his first career points, a 1-yard touchdown to make the score 46-1 in the third quarter.
Listed as a key recruit heading into week one on the Queens Gaels website, Pataki, a Physical and Health Education student, didn’t disappoint, finishing his first OUA game with 4 carries for 21-yards. His longest carry of the day was a 10-yard run.
“I’m pretty happy with how the day went, obviously we left a few points on the table,” said Gaels head coach Pat Sheahan in a Queens Gaels news release. “Overall a good first start, we had a lot of guys make a lot of good contributions so it was really a good team effort.”
Queens will host the McMaster Marauders September 2 in Kingston for their second regular season game, and Windsor September 7.
