Peewee Griffins Win Four Gold In Dream Season, Novices Win Provincials
In the provincial championships, the Peewee Griffins went 6-0 and outscored opponents 40 – 21.
Facing Owen Sound in the Ontario “B” Championships, Wallaceburg was propelled by a solid performance from team captain Tanner Coale, who scored three goals in the first period of a 7-2 championship victory. Cole MacKinnon and Hunter Santsche each scored once, while Riley Roe had the other two goals in the final.
Peewee Griffin team members included Goalies Lucas Jacobs and Malcolm Vandevenne, Evan Dumais, Cole Mackinnon, Riley Parker, Riley Roe, Hunter Santsche, Reece Dewagner, Tyler Davis, Brandon Ortibus, Corson Langs, Bryson Langs, Nic Barnes, Shaun Noah, Landon Allaer and Tanner Cole.
The Novice Wallaceburg Griffins ended their season going 5-1 at the provincial championships, to capture the Ontario “D” crown.
After losing to them earlier in the tournament, Wallaceburg faced Brampton in the final, but this time, came out the victor winning 9-4. Canton Verstraeten scored four goals in the championship game. Mason Myers-Whiteye and Tanner Cole had the other Wallaceburg goals.
