Chatham Maroons Acquire All-Star Kyle Brothers
The Chatham Maroons have acquired offensive star Kyle Brothers from the Lambton Shores Predators, in exchange for a pair of second year players, Steven Beenackers and Jay Ritchie.
Brothers, a two time GOJHL All-Star game participant, was named to the league’s All-Rookie team in 2011-2012, and was the Offensive Player of the Month in February last year, after back to back 20 goal seasons.
Last season, Brothers carried the Lambton Shores Predators, collecting 27 goals and 47 assists, for 74 points in 44 games. The Watford, Ontario native played one season with the Alvinston Flyers prior to moving to Junior B.
Beenackers, a Owen Sound Attack draft pick, was Chatham’s underage player last season, scoring four goals and adding 7 assists for 11 points in 47 games. Ritchie, another rookie last season and a Chatham resident, had 1 goal and added 4 assists in 37 games for the Maroons.
Brothers will be in the lineup for the Chatham Maroons Sunday when they open their season against the London Nationals at home. Brothers was coached in each of the last two seasons by new Maroons head coach and general manager Mark Davis.
No further details of the deal were available at the time of press.
