Kings Lose, And They Lose

Dresden-Kings-3A strange start to the 2013-2014 season has the Dresden Kings looking at the wrong side of .500 for the first time in recent memory.

The Kings season opener against Wallaceburg was postponed due to fog. Dresden then followed this up by a pair of wins over Mooretown and Alvinston.

Their Mooretown win however, was stripped from the club as the team dressed an ineligible player. Dylan Mertz had a suspension to serve, which the Kings thought he could do in exhibition, but the league rule states that he had to serve his suspension in the regular season, meaning their 3-2 win over Mooretown, became a 4-3 loss.

With the forfeited game dropping the Kings to 1-1, they came up against last season’s Great Lakes champion Tuesday night, the Essex 73s, and were handed a large 8-2 loss.

Taylor Sisson and Kevin Ritzer had the only two goals for the Dresden Kings, while Brent Paxton faced 68 shots in the loss.

Dresden will host the Wheatley Sharks this Friday before enjoying a week off.
