The Wallaceburg Lakers dropped their second road game of the season Saturday, falling 3-1 to the Mooretown Flags.

Mooretown, who lost to Dresden Friday, scored one goal per period while outshooting the Lakers 44-32 in the game.

To open the scoring, Wallaceburg Lakers newcomer Jacob Theoret of Sarnia hit the back of the net 8:39 into the first. Assisting on the goal were Wallaceburg veterans Scott Lubbers and Lucais Meyskens.

Mooretown however, wouldn’t allow another Wallaceburg goal, and would quickly equalize the score less than two minutes later as Haddon McGregor scored to tie the game 1-1.

In the second period, a familiar face came back to haunt the Wallaceburg Lakers. Former Lakers veteran, and last season’s leading scorer for the Wallaceburg Lakers Sam Jasmin got in on a scoring play, picking up an assist on the game winning goal, as Jeff Schroeter scored midway through the second period to put Mooretown up for good.

Clay Williams would add an insurance goal in the third period for Mooretown en route to their 3-1 win.

Wallaceburg travels to Blenheim Sunday night, and then host the Alvinston Flyers in Wallaceburg Wednesday for what will now serve as their home opener, after last week’s scheduled home opener was cancelled due to fog on the ice.
