Maroons Torch Predators As Offense Continues

Chatham-Maroons-Jersey-New-DarkIf the opening two games of the GOJHL Western Conference season are any indication, the Chatham Maroons won’t struggle for offense this season, as the team has now scored 18 goals in their opening two games after torching the Lambton Shores Predators 9-4.

In particular, Chatham may feature one of the best one-two offensive punches in the league this season, with captain Michael Verboom and new acquisition Kyle Brothers, who was playing his former team, the Lambton Shores Predators for the first time.

Verboom scored a hat trick Tuesday for Chatham, while brothers had five points, including a second period goal, and assists on Maroons goals by Verboom, Nate Pietens, Steven Szekesy, and Hayden Verbeek.

After opening the season with a hat trick, Trevor Richardson scored the other two Chatham Maroons goals in the win.

On the opposing side, Ridgetown’s Bryan Boersma scored his first of the season for Lambton Shores in the loss, and Muirkirk’s Steven Beenackers, who came over from Chatham in a trade with the Predators this week, picked up an assist.

Chatham next hosts the Strathroy Rockets Sunday at Memorial Arena.
