Blenheim’s Breanne Nicholas, and here Chatham-Kent teammates on the Western University Mustangs rugby team have enjoyed a strong start to their 2013-2014 season.

Western sits at 2-1 on the season, with Breanne Nicholas atop the team’s scoring with 5 tries for 25-points, tied with Oakville’s Danielle Spice who’s in her second season with the Mustangs.

Last week, Western cruised to a 37-17 win over York, however, none of the five Chatham-Kent athletes, Breanne Nicholas, Tegan Williams, Gabby Desbiens, or Amber Nicholas hit the scoresheet.

In their previous game, a 24-14 loss to number 1 ranked Guelph, Breanne Nicholas scored two first half tries.

In Western’s season opening 52-0 win over Brock, Nicholas scored two first half tries, including Western’s first points of the season, and a second half try. Tegan Williams, who is another Blenheim and Kent Havoc product, also scored in the first half for Western.

Western has two games left in the season, Saturday, September 28 at Western, against Waterloo, and October 5 when the Mustangs visit Laurier.
