Red Hot In Wheatley

Wheatley-Sharks-Jersey-WhiteAfter a season opening loss, the Wheatley Sharks have won four straight, scoring 26 goals in that span, including 7 in a 7-3 win over the Belle River Canadiens Monday night.

Belle River opened the scoring three minutes into the first, but Tilbury’s Eric Rivard answered back for the Sharks tying the game 1-1 to close the first.

Sebastian Kanally would have a huge second period for the Wheatley Sharks, scoring twice and adding an assist on Austin Fontaine’s goal. Brett Bowman would round out the scoring for the Wheatley Sharks in the second period, giving the home team a two goal lead heading into the third.

In the third, Wheatley’s defense kept the Canadiens off the board, and Bowman, and Brendon Anger scored to rack up the sixth and seventh goals of the night for the Sharks.

Conner MacKinnon made 25 saves in the win, while Thamesville’s Scott Tricker took the loss for the Canadiens.

Wheatley travels to Mooretown on Wednesday, before hosting the Wallaceburg Lakers next Monday. The Sharks currently sit in second behind undefeated Essex.
