Tartans Remain Undefeated In Senior Hoops

basketball-netThe Wallaceburg Tartans are the lone undefeated Senior Basketball team in the KCSSAA Senior Girls AA-AAA-AAAA league.

The Tartans maintained their perfect record Thursday by defeating the UCC Lancers 42-22. Kayla Riley topped all scorers in the game, pouring in 17-points for the Tartans. Alyssa Lucier and Emily VanDamme played supporting roles scoring 9- and 8-points respectively. Megan Muir was the top scorer for the Lancers with 8.

Wallaceburg is now 3-0 on the season and host CKSS next Wednesday at WDSS.

After remaining close in the first quarter, Ashley Jackson helped the John McGregor Panthers open a lead over the CKSS Golden Hawks, and eventually take home a 42-26 win. Jackson scored 21-points for the Panthers. CKSS’ scoring leader this season, is grade 9 student Allyson Huckle. A grade 9 on the Senior team, Huckle scored a team high 11-points in the loss.

At the Senior A level, Ridgetown and Chatham Christian are also undefeated with both teams holding a 2-0 record.

Tuesday, Hope Long topped all Senior scorers for the evening, collecting 22-points and leading her Ridgetown Royals to a 47-36 win over the Lambton-Kent Cardinals (Dresden). Dresden was paced by Paige Johnston, who scored 18, and Emily Marchand who had 15-points.

The Chatham Christian Flames played a tough game against the Pain Court Patriotes, battling out a 42-33 win, with Amy Butje scoring 20-points for the Flames, and Rachel Hoekstra scoring 9. Pain Court was paced by Jorga Paraskevopoulos and Danielle Lucier who scored 13- and 12-points respectively.

The Senior Basketball schedule resumes next Tuesday.
