Weather Wins Lone Junior Game
With blistering heat and humidity making a rare appearance in September, it was the weather that won Wednesday’s lone scheduled Junior hockey game.
The Wallaceburg Lakers were slated to host the Dresden Kings for their home opener, and Dresden’s Great Lakes Junior C season opener, but the weather got the better of the teams.
With high humidity, the staff at Wallaceburg Memorial Arena were unable to control fog in the arena, forcing the game to be postponed. Hour later with severe thunderstorms rolling through the area, more than 2,000 Wallaceburg and Dresden area residents found themselves without power.
Wallaceburg will now play back-to-back road games, travelling to Mooretown and Blenheim over the weekend before hosting Alvinston Wednesday, September 18.
The Dresden Kings will host the Mooretown Flags Friday at 7:30pm for their home, and now season opener.
