Blades Slice Kings, Lakers Still Winless

Blenheim-Blades-RedThe Blenheim Blades quadrupled the Dresden Kings Friday night, travelling to Dresden and stealing an 8-2 win. Elsewhere in the league, the Wallaceburg Lakers remained winless, losing 5-2 to the Alvinston Flyers.

Tyler Boughner and Justin Rossignol had a goal and two assists each for the Blenheim Blades, while Jordan Durston scored twice in their lopsided win.

Rookie Drew Marlatt and Michael Medved chipped in with a goal and assist each, while Cam Aitken and Derek Muzzatti each scored singles. Scoring for the Kings were Jeremy Griffore and Jay Piett, who netted his first career Junior hockey goal.

In Alvinston, Sam Vokes had a hat trick for the Flyers to drop the Wallaceburg Lakers to 0-9 on the season. After climbing ahead 3-0, Alvinston allowed Wallaceburg back into the game with a pair of powerplay goals from Evan Weidenbach and Robert Danyo in the second period, but Alvinston would score twice in the third to put the Lakers away.

In other Junior C action, Dresden’s James Shelton had a goal and an assist for the Belle River Canadiens, and former Wallaceburg Lakers sniper Sam Jasmin scored twice for Mooretown as the Flags defeated the Canadiens 6-5.
