Brothers Boosts Maroons Over Nationals

Chatham-Maroons-Jersey-NewWhen Kyle Brothers came over from the Lambton Shores Predators prior to the season, he was billed as the elite sniper that would help the Chatham Maroons over the hump. Wednesday facing the defending champion London Nationals who eliminated Chatham in the Western Conference final, Brothers became that player, giving Chatham the boost they needed.

A Watford, Ontario native, Brothers scored two goals and added two assists, leading the Maroons to a 5-4 win on the road.

Michael Verboom opened the scoring in the first, with assists going to Brothers and defenseman Nate Pietens. After London answered, Brothers put the Maroons ahead on the powerplay, finishing off a play from Eric Palazzolo and Connor Annett.

Michael Levesque put Chatham up by two in the second period, and Brothers scored his second with the man advantage.

After London scored quickly to open the third period, pulling within one, Brayden Hopkins scored the game winner for Chatham, with Brothers picking up the assist.

Rookie netminder Brendan Johnston made 28 saves for the Maroons, picking up the victory.

Chatham will host the Leamington Flyers Sunday at Memorial Arena for a 7:00pm start.
