Five Questions With Eric Harvey
Serving as the head trainer of several teams over the past two and a half decades, Harvey is a well respected, and beloved trainer, known for his commitment to his teams and athletes.
Below are Eric Harvey’s answers to CKSN’s Five Questions:
1. What is your career sports highlight/top memory?
My career highlight is winning my two championships, Founders Cup in Lacrosse, and Western Jr. B in Hockey. Also all of the players that I have helped along the way in the last two and a half decades that I have been doing this job.
2. Who is your favourite professional sports team and athlete?
My favourite team has to be the Detroit Red Wings. I have been a fan since I can remember. Oh, that’s easy, Steve Yzerman, and the way he waited patiently to win his Stanley Cups when everyone else was winning theirs.
3. If you could achieve one thing/goal in sports, what would it be?
That’s either to win another championship or to be an Assistant Trainer with an OHL club.
4. Who has been your biggest sports influence and why?
I have to say my dad. I mean he started me on my career as a trainer, and we worked together for a few years before he retired from the sport. Before I retire I would like to see us work together for one year. That would be the best thing that could happen as of now.
5. What do you love most about being involved in sports?
The friendships I have made over the last 25 years. And the players that I have seen make it to the OHL and even to the NHL, knowing that I was a part of the road to higher levels of hockey.
Editors Note: Eric Harvey served as my trainer several times through my minor and junior hockey careers, and he is truly a class act. Anyone who knows “Harv” loves him, and I’d like to say thank you for the care he gave me as an athlete and continues to give to others today, and for the thousands of hours he’s volunteered to sport. Eric deserves all the recognition in the world. Thanks Harv! – Ian
