Five Questions With Sydnee Nolan
A UCC Lancers alumni, Nolan started for the Gaels at scrum-half all season, and helped her team to an OUA championship, as they upset the five-time reigning champion Guelph Gryphons.
Also suiting up for the Kent Havoc in the offseason, Nolan will travel with the Gaels to the CIS National Championships this weekend.
Below are Sydnee Nolan’s answers to CKSN’s Five Questions.
1. What is your career sports highlight/top memory?
The highlight of my rugby career thus far would be winning OUA gold against the Guelph Gryphons 19-15. It was the first time ever the Queen’s Women’s Rugby has won an OUA championship.
2. Who is your favourite professional sports team and athlete?
My favorite professional sports team would be Canada’s National Senior Women’s Rugby team and my favorite professional athlete is Jen Kish.
3. If you could achieve one thing/goal in sports, what would it be?
I hope to one day represent our province for women’s rugby.
4. Who has been your biggest sports influence?
My biggest influence when it comes to sports has been my dad. He introduced me to rugby by taking me to his practices with the Kent Havoc when I was only eight years old. Ever since then he has pushed and supported me throughout my rugby career playing high school rugby, club rugby, Southwest Ontario Sevens, and Queen’s Women’s Rugby. He has always believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself, and challenged me to realize my full potential.
5. What do you love most about playing sports?
I love sports because I am extremely competitive and love working with others as a team. I also love sports because of the great community and the relationships that come along with competing.
