Outlaws Racking Up Wins
At the Peewee ‘A’ level, the Outlaws took on the Bluewater Hawks in Strathroy on October 12. Chatham came out victorious, beating the Hawks 4-0. In the opening period, Camille Blain opened the scoring, with assists going to Cassie Whiteye and Reese Parks. Emma Doom then got on the board, with Payton Sabourin and Kennedey Jack picking up assists.
In the second period of the game, Doom scored her second of the game with Sabourin and Jack assisting again. In the third, Blain scored again for the Chatham Outlaws, with Parks and Whiteye assisting.
The Bantam ‘A’ Chatham Outlaws continued their league play on the weekend with two road games on Saturday in Stratford and Waterloo. The Outlaws did not take long to show that they came to play as Megan Morehouse scored a minute into the game as she deeked through the Stratford defence and buried a shot off of a pass from Shayna Daly.
Chatham increased their lead early in the 2nd period when Darby Barnard lifted a backhander home after taking a feed from Sydney Sabourin and Isabelle Rossi. Chatham would build on their 2-0 lead in the 3rd period as Shayna Daly padded the Outlaw’s lead taking a breakout pass from Lauren Ouimet. That would be all she wrote as Larissa McFadden stood tall between the pipes to earn the shutout for Chatham and the 3-0 victory. Larissa McFadden took the shutout between the pipes.
The Chatham Bantam ‘A’ Outlaws’ next game was later that evening in Waterloo and Chatham was hoping to save up enough energy to pull out another road win. The 2nd game of the long road trip was a little sloppier and it took Chatham a few shifts to get some momentum going, but Shayna Daly took another long pass from Lauren Ouimet down the wing and gave Chatham a 1-0 lead in the 1st period. Waterloo were able to get a goal back and tie things up at 1 at the end of the 1st period.
Chatham picked up their intensity level a bit in the 2nd period and they broke out for 2 more goals as Megan Morehouse scored her 1st of the game after taking a feed from Amber Lumley. Morehouse scored again only a minute later off of a set up from Sydney Sabourin and Lauren Ouimet. Up 3-1 at the start of the 3rd period, Chatham did not let up as Darby Barnard one timed home a pass from Megan Morehouse and Kate Erickson walked out front of the net and tucked one past the Waterloo goalie to put Chatham up 5 – 1. Waterloo did manage to score a late power play goal to make the final score 5-2. Caitlyn Cressman was the winning goalie for Chatham. Chatham is back in action this weekend with 2 home games against St. Mary’s and Stratford.
The Chatham Peewee ‘B’ Outlaws won their 3rd game of the season Sunday, defeating Zorra 6-1 at Walpole Island.
Chloe Pugh had 2 goals, Emily Barstead a goal and 2 assists, with single markers going to Lauren Ross, Madelyn Turnbull and Jaiden Rollings. Emma Cobb stopped all but one of the shots sent her way.
With the win, the team improved to 3-1-1 in Western Ontario Girls Hockey League Play.
