Earlier this month, Gracie Barra Chatham Brazilian Jiu Jitsu students, aged 5-14, competed at the WKF Junior Grappling Tournament in Woodstock, Ontario. The event was a round robin, meaning everyone fought everyone in their respective division. The event drew competitors from Chatham to Milton.

Austin Riddell competed for the first time in his BJJ career and took home a gold after dominating his division with a 4-0 record.

Riley Walker also first time competitor won Silver in his division going 3-1, with his only loss to his teammate. Chase Mason went 1-1 winning Silver after an amazing battle with 3 overtimes totalling an amount of 11 minutes of fighting; however, he lost to the gold medallist by 1 point for reversal in the last overtime.

Kayne Abrams placed Bronze in one of his divisions. Abrams was only competitor to do two divisions totalling in 5 fights for the day. Other teammates that competed and did not place were Mytchell Barnes, Jaimee Voros and Quintin Abrams.

Next up for Gracie Barra Chatham will be Nick Whittal’s 170 lbs MMA title defense with Bowe Shepley who will be making his 135 lbs debut on TXC November 9th in Michigan.
