Wallaceburg Lakers Look For First Win On Walpole
The Wallaceburg Lakers are off to a dismal 0-6 start this season, but perhaps a change of scenery will give the team the boost they need to grab their first victory.
After falling 13-2 to the undefeated Essex 73s on Tuesday, the Lakers don’t have a traditional Wednesday night home game, but rather will host the Mooretown Flags for the first of their games at Walpole Island this season.
The 7:30pm game at Walpole Island Sports Complex will feature a ceremonial puck drop by Mike Dasher, Walpole Island’s Director of Operations, along with former Wallaceburg Lakers Blain Hopkins and Orland Hopkins.
Following the game there will be a free skate with the Lakers allowing fans to take to the ice with the Wallaceburg players.
As well, the Lakers will be offering a fan bus, on the team’s bus, which will depart from Wallaceburg Memorial Arena at 7:10pm sharp, and return to Wallaceburg after the game.
In Tuesday night’s loss, Ryan Gruszka and Evan Weidenback had the lone Lakers goals, while Joel Sowinski faced 56 shots in front of more than 600 fans in Essex.
