Blades Strengthen Blueline, Sign Mackenzie Dick

Blenheim-Blades-LogoThe Blenheim Blades have added some veteran experience with the signing of West Lorne native Mackenzie Dick.

Dick, who finished last season with the Blades after beginning it with the Junior B St. Thomas Stars, will add size as well to the blueline. The 18-year old stands 6’ 3” and weighs 205.

Mononucleosis sideline Dick last season with the Stars. After he recovered he joined the Blades and played to rest of the regular season before being injured in the final game in Essex. It proved a huge loss for the Blades in their Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League quarter-final series with Dresden Kings, won by the Kings in six games.

Dick wasn’t the only key Blades lost for the playoffs as Zach Mailloux broke a leg in the same game, and just recently rejoined the team.

In 10 regular season games with Blenheim last season 1 goal and 4 assists. Dick played 6 games with the St. Thomas Stars where he was scoreless in 2012-2013.

The Blades also announced Wednesday that second-year forward Ryan Frizzell has left the team to return to high school hockey in West Lorne.
