Red Devils Coaching Staff Set
After the Wallaceburg Red Devils named Jamie Knight their new head coach for the 2014 lacrosse season, Wallaceburg lacrosse fans anxiously waited for the announcement of the remainder of his staff.
Friday, Knight finalized his selections, with three individuals familiar to the Red Devils organization. Knight has selected Jacob Kicknosway, Rob Pollock, and Justin Durston as his assistants.
“I couldn’t be more happy with these guys stepping up to the plate, it will certainly make my job easier as they all come with a ton of lacrosse experience,” said Knight about his new assistants. “We are extremely excited to get this season underway and bring Red Devil fans another exciting season of lacrosse.”
Kicknosway and Pollock both served on the Red Devils’ bench last season. This year, Kicknosway and Pollock, who is the team’s all-time leading scorer, will run Wallaceburg’s offense. Durston, a former Red Devils head coach himself in 2011, will run Wallaceburg’s defence and transition game.
This isn’t Knight’s first go-around with the team either, as he last served as the Wallaceburg Red Devils head coach in 2012 when he helped the team to the Western Conference final, a place the team hadn’t been in more than a decade. During the regular season, Knight and the Red Devils collected a 13-7 record.
Last season, Wallaceburg was coached by Kyle VanDamme and Steve Lilley, finishing 9-11 and missing the playoffs.
