Former Wallaceburg Lakers defenseman Brad Staubitz had been traded by the Anaheim Ducks to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Staubitz, 29, was immediately assigned by the Maple Leafs to their AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies. Staubitz, who was signed by Anaheim in the 2012 offseason, has been suiting up for Anaheim’s AHL affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals this year, playing 6 games so far this season.

Playing 230 career NHL games with Anaheim, Montreal, Minnesota, and San Jose, Staubitz, who is from Bright’s Grove, Ontario has 21 points and 520 penalty minutes.

Staubitz played for the Wallaceburg Lakers in 2000-2001. The Lakers advanced to the Great Lakes Junior C final that season but were swept by the Belle River Canadiens.

Coming the other way in the deal, was a former Chatham Maroons defenseman, Jesse Blacker. Blacker played 8 games for the Maroons in 2007-2008, spending the remainder of the season with the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires.
