U19 Thunder Ousted In London Semis

Chatham-Thunder-JerseyAnother season of ringette in Chatham-Kent has begun and the Chatham Thunder U19 squad is off to a solid start. This past weekend, the Thunder advanced to the semi-finals of the London Lynx Ringette tournament, before suffering their first loss of the weekend, being ousted by the home squad.

In the opening game of the tournament, Chatham defeated Waterloo 9-3 with Kara Hueniken leading the way with four goals for the Thunder. Hannah Doforno and Kayla Therrien each had two goal games, while Courtney Roberts picked up the other goal for Chatham in the win.

Facing a tough Burlington team in their second game, Chatham edged out a 4-3 victory. Again, the group of Roberts, Doforno, Therrien, and Hueniken paced the scoring, picking up one goal each.

On day two of the tournament, Chatham doubled up Ajax 8-4. Doforno potted a hat trick, while Tristen Stewart scored a pair. Nicole Hook and Kelsey Zondag found the back of the net for the first time in the tournament, while Therrien continued her scoring streak adding a single goal. Therrien and Carys Owen also had three assists each.

Facing Seaforth in their final round robin game, Chatham notched another close win, with Doforno and Hueniken scoring in a 2-1 win.

In the semi-final, Chatham came up against the host London Lynx, and were unable to keep their winning streak alive, falling 4-0 to the home team.
