Van Herk Swims Away With 7 Medals
14 year old Brendan Van Herk swam away with 7 podium finishes , winning Gold in each of the 50m Back (30.35), 200m Back (2:21.11) and 200m Fly (2:28.80) events. Brendan won silver in the 50m Fly (29.18) and 200m I.M. (2:21.09) events, and was third in both the 50m Breast (34.55) and 200m Breast (2:39.15) events. Brendan also placed fifth in the 100m Free and sixth in the 50m Free.
16 year old Shania Van Herk won Gold on the women’s 16 & over 200m Back in a time of 2:25.21. Shania had seven other top ten finishes, placing fourth in the 50m Fly(30.45), 100m Back (1:06.04), 200m Free (2:12.02) and 400m Free ( 4:49.21) events. Shania was sixth in both the 50m Back and 50m Free events, and was eighth in the 100m Breast event.
12 year old Grace Hansen won bronze in the 12 year old 50m Fly (34.96) and was fourth in the 200m Breast (3:15.07). Grace had three other top ten finishes, placing sixth in the 50m Free, ninth in the 200m Fly and tenth in the 200m I.M.
9 year old Gracin Black won bronze in the boys 10 & under 200m Breast in a time of 4:10.79. Gracin had two more top ten finishes placing fifth in the 50m Free and seventh in the 100m Breast. 10 year old Emma Pegg had three top ten finishes in the girls 10 & under age group, placing fifth in the 50m Fly (43.37), seventh in the 200m Breast, and ninth in the 100m Breast.
14 year old Rain Pfaff swam to five top ten finishes at the meet, placing fifth in both the 100m Breast (1:26.56) and 200m Back (2:39.73) events. Rain was sixth in the 50m and 100m Free events, and placed seventh in the 100m Back. 16 year old River Pfaff swam to fifth in the men’s 16 & over 100m Breast (1:16.31) and was tenth in the 200m Breast.
The entire team will travel to Sarnia Sunday December 8 for the next scheduled S.E.A.L. Meet of the season.
