2013 Chatham-Kent Male Athlete of the Year: Max Allin

After more than two weeks of voting, the Chatham-Kent Sports Network readers have selected Chatham’s Max Allin as the 2013 Chatham-Kent Male Athlete of the Year.

In 2013, Max Allin lead the CIS and OUA in scoring, while starring for the Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks men’s basketball team. Allin topped the Province and Nation in scoring, averaging 23.2 points-per-game in the regular season.

On top of his scoring, Allin was recognized as an OUA First Team All-Star and CIS Second Team All-Star. He was the OUA and CIS Player of the Week once as well, in a week he set a Wilfrid Laurier single game scoring record with 43 points in a win against Guelph. Allin had 23 double-doubles in 2013, and 2 triple-doubles.

Allin was the Golden Hawks’ men’s basketball Team MVP, and received the school’s Presidents Award in 2013. During 2013, he was also the Laurier Athlete of the Week four times, spanning two seasons. In his fifth year with Laurier, Allin, who stands 6’4″ is an Ursuline College graduate.

With more than 3200 votes cast in the 2013 Chatham-Kent Male Athlete of the Year Final Four round, Allin took a remarkable 46% of the votes, totally nearly 1500 votes.

The Runner Up, for CKSN’s 2013 Chatham-Kent Male Athlete of the Year was Dane Fox. Fox received 29% of the votes after a spectacular year in the Ontario Hockey League, with the Erie Otters. Fox was the OHL’s Player of the Month in November 2013, and was leading the league in goals by a wide margin.
