Blenheim Peewee’s Win 41st Golden Acres Tournament
After defeating a strong Port Dover team 6-1 in a lopsided opening win, which was considered “an anomaly,” the Peewees held their own in a back and forth contest against West Lincoln earning a 5-4 victory. Rolling after 2 wins they lined up against the determined Dunnville Mudcats. The teams would exchange goals but found themselves all knotted up through 3 periods. With the tie it gave the Peewee Reps 1st place in the round robin setting them up to go straight to the finals
You could not script the championship game any better as Blenheim matched up against long time Community & Minor Hockey Association comrades the Port Dover Pirates.
Blenheim knew going into this game it would not be a repeat of the opener and Port Dover was looking to settle the score. After some extremely exciting back and forth action the teams found themselves deadlocked at ones at the end of regulation time.
With the hometown crowd on their side and an arena bustling with excitement the home team delivered in thrilling fashion storming into the Port Dover Zone right off the faceoff and scoring 12 seconds into overtime.
Blenheim & District Minor Hockey Association is extremely proud of the Peewee Travel teams effort and we congratulate them on the big hometown tournament victory.
