Chatham-Kent Sports Year in Review: June
- Grace Steps Down: The University of Windsor Lancers got a shock as longtime Director of Athletics Gord Grace, who is originally from Chatham stepped down to later take a position with the CIS.
- Balkwill Starts New Chapter: Chatham’s Larry Balkwill ended his NCAA baseball career and started a new chapter in his playing days, signing with the IBL’s London Majors.
- OHA Honours Three Locals: Chatham’s Adam Ripley, Pain Court’s Patrick Myers, and Blenheim’s Brady Campbell all received major honours at the annual Ontario Hockey Association’s award ceremony.
- Tartans Win Football Crown: Continuing Wallaceburg’s dominance, WDSS Tartans won the Kent Junior football title.
- Nicholas Named To Team Canada: Blenheim’s Breanne Nicholas was named to Canada’s Under-20 Women’s rugby team, which would travel to the Four Nations Cup in England.
- Carleton Named To Team Canada: Chatham’s Bridget Carleton was named to Canada’s U16 women’s Basketball team. Later in the month, Carleton would capture a silver medal with Canada.
- Alicia Baertsoen, Alex Kiar Win Jack Parry: Wallaceburg’s Alicia Baertsoen and Dresden’s Alex Kiar were named Chatham-Kent’s top student athletes, winning the Jack Parry Award.
- Red Devils Signed To Junior A League: Three Wallaceburg Red Devils lacrosse players, Jordan Durston, Joel Shepley, and Mike Myers each were signed by OLA Junior A lacrosse teams to finish out their season.
