Five Questions With Samantha Bueckert

A Tilbury District High School graduate, Bueckert is currently one of the Saints leading scorers, and is currently studying hotel and restaurant management at St. Clair College.
Below are Samantha Bueckert’s answers to CKSN’s Five Questions:
1. What is your career sports highlight/top memory?
My first real success was back in high school when my teammates and I finally broke through the 22 year losing streak and went on to Kent Finals for Volleyball. Also this year has been a huge factor in my career. St. Clair has recruited top athletes to make a very competitive team starting with a 4-1 record this season. I feel that with the talent and determination we as a whole are the team to beat this year after coming from a 4-14 season last season.
2. Who is your favourite professional sports team and athlete?
Sports team is the Denver Broncos, Athlete is Peyton Manning.
3. If you could achieve one thing/goal in sports, what would it be?
Help bring my volleyball team to OCAA’s this year. We have started off the season better than any other year I have played with the college and are currently tied for second place in the OCAA West division.
4. Who has been your biggest sports influence and why?
My biggest influence has been my parents. They have always been active throughout my whole life, have taught me to look past the negative aspects and fight for what you want. After losing my dad in March of this year and seeing him push through the most difficult times in his life with brain tumours I feel that with his strength and determination anything is possible if you have a positive mindset.
5. What do you love most about playing sports?
I love being competitive and active with people who have the same goals as me. The fact that this is my last year of college volleyball disappoints me but I know there are leagues out there that have people who love the sport just as much as I do.
