Gracie Barra Chatham students competed at OJA’s (Ontario Jiu Jitsu Association) 2013 Provincial Championship that took place November 30 at Brock University in St. Catherines.

Josh Rich in adult Blue belt feather weight won Gold No-gi (Submission grappling) and Silver BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu). His loss in the BJJ gold medal match was very controversial but ended with a score of 2 advantage points to 1 advantage point. Advantage points are used to determine the winner if no points are scored. Rich fought a total of 4 fights with 2 wins by submission.

Sawyer King fought in Teen Colour belt (advanced) BJJ and No-gi Submission Grappling and won double Silver medals. King fought a total of 5 fights between two divisions.

Kristina Lewis competed in Women’s Blue belt Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Lewis is currently a white belt at GBC however new rules in OJA require Black belts in Judo to compete at no lower level than Blue belt in their competitions (following same rules as IBJJF international rules). She finished her division placing Silver for her first competition with a total of 3 fights.

Also competing from the club was Bowe Shipley and Kayne Abrams, they both had some good fights but did not place at this event.
