Cobra’s Taekwondo Training Centre located in Chatham had 7 athletes representing Petrolia/Cobra’s Team (PCT) all making the podium last month at the Toronto Open. Over the 2 day competition, the Open drew in more than 1300 athletes.

Qaid Shadd-Robinson(11) competed for the first time at a tournament. His division was 10-11 white, yellow stripe, yellow and green stripe. Qaid had a great performance, finishing with gold. He won his first match 9-1 second match 1-0 in sudden death overtime and the finals 7-3.

Trenton Blackbird(9) also his first tournament expirence only started TKD 4 weeks prior to this game. He competed 8-9 white, yellow stripe, yellow and green stripe. He also had a outstanding debut to competition, finishing with gold. Match 1 he won 1-0, match 2, 3-1 and winning finals 3-2.

Keegan Kovar(8) competed 8-9 blue to red stripe division. He was victorious in his first match with a score of 10-0. In the the finals he was short losing to a top level USA school 6-8. Earning silver.

Brandon Benoit(10) competed 10-11 white, yellow stripe, yellow, green stripe division. He also finished with gold, winning match 1 8-1, match 2 11-2 and the finals 8-4.

Katlyn Doxtator (16) competed in the junior (15-17) blackbelt light weight division on the Saturday. After a lengthy time off, of competition she earned bronze, winning her first match 1-0 and in the semis coming up short to a USA athlete 3-1.

Oceana Doxtator (16) competed in the junior (15-17) blackbelt middle weight division on the Saturday. She won match 1 9-3, the semis 14-2 and finished silver with a 5-2 loss.

Jewelian Blackbird (14), competed on Sunday in the Olympic cadet middle weight division. She made her way to gold winning match 1: 7-0, match 2: 14-2 and the finals 12-3.
