Maroons Make It Six
The Chatham Maroons extended their winning streak to six games Thursday, defeating the Sarnia Legionnaires on the road.
Chatham got out to an early lead, getting a first period powerplay goal from captain Michael Verboom, and an unassisted marker from Ian Faubert. The Maroons never looked back in the game, taking a 4-2 win.
In the second period, Kyle Brothers and Adam Arseneault scored, with Verboom assisting on both, to finish with three points on the night. Brothers’ two points, a goal and an assist for the night, increased his GOJHL scoring lead to three points, sitting with 59 points in 27 games.
Jacob Keogh was again spectacular in net for the Maroons, picking up his fourth consecutive win since being acquired from the Cambridge Winterhawks, while making 36 saves. He beat former Maroon Hunter Johnson, who was making his first start for the Sarnia Legionnaires.
Chatham will try to make it seven this Sunday when they host the St. Thomas Stars at Memorial Arena for a 7pm start.
