1st Annual Dave Allin Classic Coming

Last January, Chatham lost a heralded father, coach, and sports legend. Dave Allin passed away last year due to ALS, and this January 24 and 25, his memory will be honoured at the 1st Annual Dave Allin Classic basketball tournament.

The tournament, which will be held at John McGregor Secondary School, will feature sixteen grade seven and eight boys basketball teams from across Southwestern Ontario.

Allin was inducted as a builder into the Chatham Sports Hall of Fame in 2012 after coaching elementary and club basketball for 35 years in Chatham.

The upcoming tournament will feature a skills competition, All-Star and MVP awards, t-shirts and trophies for the kids, and many other highlights, which are sure to make it a fun weekend for athletes, parents, coaches, and spectators.

The tournament will donate all proceeds from team entry fees, concessions, and raffles to ALS. As well, the Allin family will be running a silent auction. The family is looking for big and small ticket items that can be used for raffle or auction items. Items can be donated anonymously, or credit can be given to individuals and/or companies.
