Blenheim Blades Add Goalie Adam Leboeuf
Wednesday Blenheim Blades veteran goalie Dylan Vander Pol was put on the Ontario Hockey Association’s injured reserve list, leaving the team with just one netminder – Eric Stewardson.
Finding a quality Junior ‘C’ goalie at this time of year that isn’t already playing is next to impossible, but luckily the Blades had one right in their dressing room.
Adam Leboeuf, who earlier this season played for the Belle River Canadiens, had been practicing with the Blades since early December after he was released by the Canadiens in a move that still has many around the Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League shaking their heads.
While in Belle River the Woodslee, Ontario native compiled a record of seven wins, five losses and one overtime loss. He had faced the Blades twice, winning 4-2 and losing 4-3. His goals against average is 3.35, good enough for fifth among goalies with a dozen of more starts, and he has a save percentage of .892.
Leboeuf was in uniform, but did not see action, in the Blades 2-1 shootout loss at home to Amherstburg Admirals. He was also in the Blades training camp for a short time and played in one exhibition game before signing with Belle River.
