Chatham Pool Sharks Coach Steps Down
After two-and-a-half successful seasons, Chatham Pool Sharks Head Coach Kyle Pinsonneault is retiring. In a memo to the team, it noted “Coach Kyle has built a successful business both in Canada and in the United States, and because of this he will not be returning as Head Coach of the Chatham Pool Sharks.”
“I love the sport of swimming; it’s a part of me. The trouble is that I can’t run a company and coach full-time. There comes a point when something will suffer and I didn’t want the kids’ swimming to be affected,” said Pinsonneault. “It was a tough decision to make, but I know it is the right thing to do.”
In the interim, former Head Coach Kim Wood from Chatham has agreed to the Head Coach Position until the end of the season or until a permanent Head Coach is recruited. “Coach Wood is both a very accomplished athlete and experienced swim coach, so I know she will do a great job,” commented Pinsonneault.
While with the Sharks, Coach Pinnsoneault, Qualified 4 swimmers to Eastern Canadian Championships, guided a Shark to a 4-time national champion, had 2 Sharks swimmers ranked 1st in the Canada, guided over 15 swimmers to the Provincial Championships, assisted over 30 swimmers to qualify for regionals, coached the Sharks to move to Division 2 and finish 5th – best finish since the late 90s, helped two swimmers receive swimming scholarships in the US, and was selected to the coaching staff of the Ontario Summer Games.
“We would like to thank Coach Kyle for his dedication to the team and to the sport of competitive swimming; we know he will be missed by the swimmers and he certainly has set the bar high for our club,” commented Shannon Sasseville, Vice President of the Chatham Pool Sharks. Now the tough part begins; the search for a new full-time Head Coach. Our team is at a place where we definitely need a high-caliber coach.”
The Chatham Pool Sharks is a Division 2 Club and currently has nationally ranked swimmers on the team, as well as many provincial and regional-level qualifiers. This is in addition to the developmental programs offered for younger swimmers.
