Fillies Trot To Two Wins
Facing East Lambton in Alvinston on Saturday, the Fillies fell into a hole early, but fought back to a 4-3 win.
East Lambton pulled ahead 2-0 before Danica Drewery scored, assisted by Miah St. Pierre to make it 2-1 before the first period was out.
After a scoreless second, East Lambton made it 3-1 in the third period, but the Fillies wouldn’t quit, fighting back with only six minutes remaining with a goal by Haley Smith. The assist on Smith’s goal went to McKenzie Wilson. Only twenty second later, Miah St. Pierre tied the game, with Drewery picking up the assist.
The Fillies completed their comeback with two minutes remaining as Alex Vanek scored the game winning goal on a breakaway.
Sunday in Blenheim, the Fillies hosted Lambton Shores, picking up their second win of the weekend by a score of 4-2.
Val Gotelaer opened the scoring for the Kent Fillies, on a point shot off a feed from St. Pierre.
In period two, McKenzie Wilson put the Fillies up 2-0 with Ryanne Logan and Smith collecting the assists. Only a minute later, Logan scored a goal of her own, assisted by Brooke Sullivan and Megan Van Mol.
After Lambton Shores closed the gap to 3-1, Cassidy Wammes scored, assisted by Logan and Wilson, to ice the game.
Tori Winters and Kaysey Dorsers split the goaltending duties over the weekend.
