Five Questions With Matt Mapletoft
Matt Mapletoft is a 24-year-old curler from Wallaceburg, Ontario. Mapletoft currently curls with Team Van Ymeran out of St. Thomas, Ontario.
Mapletoft won an OUA curling medal with the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks and helped his team to the CIS championships before graduating. He also represented Canada at the World Junior Curling Championships in Switzerland, where he won a bronze medal.
One of the areas most accomplished young curlers, Mapletoft now competes each year in the Men’s Championships provincially.
Below are Matt Mapletoft’s answers to CKSN’s Five Questions:
1. What is your career sports highlight/top memory?
My career sports highlight would be winning a bronze medal at the World Junior Curling Championships in Switzerland. Although a really close second would be going to the FISU world university games in China.
2. Who is your favourite professional sports team and athlete?
Favourite sports team is the toronto maple leafs and my favourite athlete is tiger woods.
3. If you could achieve one thing/goal in sports, what would it be?
If there is one thing I could achieve it sports it would be to represent Canada at the Olympics.
4. Who has been your biggest sports influence and why?
My biggest influence has been my parents, they introduced me to curling and have supported me every step through my curling career.
5. What do you love most about playing sports?
Sports allows you to meet so many people, and travel all of the country or world. Sports also keeps me challenging myself and keep trying to improve each day.
