After a four game stint in the Ontario Hockey League with the Guelph Storm, Chatham’s James McEwan returned to the Chatham Maroons Sunday night to help the Maroons pick up their 11th staright win.

McEwan, signed as one of Chatham’s 16-year-olds, was the Guelph Storm’s 9th sound draft pick in the 2013 OHL draft. He signed with the club last week, and played four games as the Storm climbed into the top ten in National rankings, scoring no points.

“He had a very impressive training camp with us in early September and followed that up with a very good season with the Chatham Maroons,” said Storm GM Mike Kelly.

McEwan scored one of three first period goals for the Chatham Maroons Sunday in a 7-0 win over the Strathroy Rockets, his first game back with Chatham after spending the holiday break in the OHL with the Storm.

It was GOJHL December Offensive player of the month Kyle Brothers, and goaltender of the month Jacob Keogh who stole the show in the game however, with Brothers notching a hat trick and adding an assist, while Keogh made 36 saves for the shutout win. Nate Pietens, Steven Szekesy, and Jared Dennis had the other Chatham goals.

McEwan is expected to finish the season with the Chatham Maroons, and now has 10 goals and 12 assists in 33 games this season.
