Sowinski Named Player of the Month
Sowinski, in his second season with the Wallaceburg Lakers, has faced more rubber this season than any other goalie in the Great Lakes League, and despite sitting at the bottom of the league statistically, he has been Wallaceburg’s best player many nights, and has been the key to the team’s five wins this season, two of which came in December.
Sowinski helped the Lakers defeat Amherstburg and Dresden in December, making 36 and 39 saves in the games respectively, and allowing only two goals against in each game.
“It’s a great feeling,” said Sowinski about receiving the award. “Very unexpected, but I couldn’t have done it without my team, they worked very hard in front of me. I’m very thankful for the award.”
In 24 starts this season, Sowinski has 5 wins, a 5.33 GAA, and a 0.868 save percentage.
The Wallaceburg Lakers host the Mooretown Flags next Wednesday, January 15.
