Chatham-Kent Rangers Win Family Day Tournament

On Family Day Monday, the Novice Chatham-Kent Rangers played in a hockey tournament in Windsor, Ontario taking home the championship.

Among the 16 teams entered inthe tournament, three were from Chatham’s Minor Hockey system, the Canadians, Sharks and Rangers.

After 3 games of round robin, the Canadiens were eliminated. The Sharks and the Rangers made it to the semi-finals. In the semis, the Sharks played a hard fought game but lost in the semis.

The Rangers however, took a victory in the semis, advancing to the finals, where they played a tough team from Windsor.

In the finals the Windsor team took an early lead and carried that until the last 6 minutes of the final period.

In a true testament to the Rangers players, the team dug deep and scored 4 hard fought goals, capturing the trophy and crowning themselves champions.

Leading the Rangers was Kassidy Teare, who in 5 games only allowed 6 goals and earned 2 shutouts.

    That was some amazing hockey to be a part of. The kids on this team showed great heart in battling for 5 straight games to earn the trophy!
