Coach’s Corner With Dan St. Pierre
Dan St. Pierre is a coach from Chatham, Ontario. St. Pierre has coached an array of sports including baseball, soccer, ringette, hockey, and basketball, and is currently coaching the Kent Fillies Midget Girls hockey team.
In the past, St. Pierre was coached not only the Fillies, but also the Chatham Golden Eagles, Chatham Thunder Ringette, and at John N. Given Public School and McNaughton Public Schools.
Winning league titles in fastball, hockey, and soccer, St. Pierre is an accomplished coach and volunteer.
Below are Dan St. Pierre’s answers to CKSN’s questions about coaching.
1. What is your career coaching highlight/top memory?
Perfect Season for Golden Eagles, 12-0, and we qualified for the Little League World Series in Panama City, Florida.
2. What is the biggest challenge you face as a coach?
Keeping your team focused on the team not individual goals.
3. Why did you get into coaching? And what keeps you coaching?
I started coaching when I was 13 with my Dad, Larry St.Pierre.
4. Who was your favourite coach? Why?
Larry St.Pierre my dad, he taught me to be competitive but play everyone so they can learn and be a valuable part of the team.
5. If you could give one piece of advice to other coaches, or prospective coaches, what would it be?
Set rules, put the team first, and treat everyone as an equal.
