Former Chatham Athlete Agosta Wins Gold
Ruthven’s Meghan Agosta-Marciano captured her third straight Olympic Gold medal, helping Canada defeat the USA 3-2 in a stunning comeback victory Thursday in Sochi, Russia.
Agosta, who played for the Chatham Outlaws and Chatham-Kent Cyclones, was scoreless in the final, but was a consistent threat for Canada in the game, and was on the ice in the final seconds of regulation before Marie Philip-Poulin scored the tying goal. Philip-Poulin also scored the overtime winner for Canada.
In five tournament games, Agosta-Marciano scored 4 goals and added an assist.
In Canada’s round robin win over the USA, Agosta-Marciano scored twice and added an assist on her 27th birthday.
